about
'The Phantom Ghost Ship', an original, Nova Scotia folk song, was inspired by the true story and legend of the privateer ship, the Young Teazer, which sank in Mahone Bay waters trying to evade the British ships. The ship is said to have been cursed, and there has been significant paranormal activity around it. Numerous witnesses have spotted the Young Teazer, coming out of the Mahone Bay fog in flames. There is a popular festival and a re-enactment of the famous chase and burning of the privateer ship Young Teazer in the Mahone Bay harbor each year.
Quoted from Wikipedia - "The Young Teazer was a United States privateer schooner that captured 12 British vessels, five of which made it to American ports. A member of her crew blew her up at Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia during the War of 1812 after a series of British warships chased her and after HMS Hogue trapped her."

LYRICS:
Phantom Ghost Ship
Chorus:
Yo Ho! and the cold wind blows,
And the cold wind blows,
On the phantom ghost ship.
Yo Ho! And the lightning strikes,
‘Mid a thunder show,
Phantom Ghost Ship with flames aglow…
Oh….Phantom Ghost Ship with flames aglow.
Verse 1:
I was walking down the local pier
One dark and stormy night,
When through the fog, a ship appeared
Before my very eyes.
I saw the phantom ghost ship,
Emerging from the sea,
Avenging the d..th of its privateers
And a curse it must break free. (Chorus)
Verse 2:
Oh. Lit by the light of the full moon,
In the fog and the wind that blew.
I could hear the moans and wailing,
See chilling faces of her crew.
And I could hear the timber creaking,
See the tattered sails ablaze,
And no sooner than I blinked by eyes,
She vanished from my gaze. (Chorus)
Verse 3:
Once a canon hit her broadside,
Engulfed the ship in flames,
And the schooner crew and cargo ,
They sank in their watery graves.
They say the phantom ghost ship
Has not rested to this day.
It must break the curse upon it –
Keep returning to the Bay. (Chorus)
